New fast ferry route to connect Crikvenica Riviera and Kvarner Islands

This summer, the Kvarner region is set to gain an exciting new fast-ferry route connecting the mainland coast to some of the popular islands and seaside destinations in the northern Adriatic.

The new line linking Kraljevica, Crikvenica, Senj, Baška on Krk Island, and Lopar and Rab on Rab Island represents a major step forward in regional transport connections while also enhancing the tourism offer of some of Croatia’s busiest summer destinations.

The new service will be operated by Jadrolinija’s catamaran Silba, with operations beginning on June 24 and continuing until August 30. Initially, four morning departures per week are planned from Kraljevica, with afternoon return trips from Rab. From July 10 onward, the line will operate daily, giving both domestic and international visitors greater flexibility when planning holidays, weekend trips, or day excursions.

Connecting the Most Attractive Destinations in Kvarner

The new fast ferry route, described by Jadrolinija as a “Kvarner Bridge,” will connect some of the northern Adriatic’s best-known tourist destinations. Travelers will now be able to easily visit the lively Crikvenica Riviera, the historic town of Senj, the well-known beaches of Baška and Lopar, and the town of Rab within a single journey.

One of the biggest advantages of the new route is its ability to unite the mainland and islands into one seamless travel experience. Instead of spending hours driving through congested summer traffic, passengers will be able to relax and enjoy a scenic sea journey while exploring several destinations in a short time.

The route is expected to be particularly attractive to tourists looking to explore more of the region during their stay, as well as residents interested in short weekend getaways or one-day trips. In this way, the new line further supports the growing popularity of island-hopping and excursion tourism in Croatia.

A Unique Sailing Experience Beneath the Velebit Mountains

One of the most appealing aspects of the new line is the journey itself. Sailing beneath the dramatic Velebit mountain range and through the picturesque Senj Gate (Senjska vrata) offers views and experiences that simply cannot be enjoyed from the road.

Passengers will have the opportunity to admire the spectacular combination of rugged mountains, crystal-clear sea, and charming coastal landscapes that define the Kvarner region. This blend of natural beauty and practical transportation could make the new route one of the most attractive tourism products on the northern Adriatic this summer.

Beyond its tourism value, the line also provides an important transport alternative. During the busy summer season, traffic jams leading toward the coast and ferry ports are common, making sea travel an increasingly attractive option for both tourists and residents. The new route offers a faster, more relaxing, and more enjoyable way to travel between the mainland and the islands of Krk and Rab.

Ticket Prices Designed for Day Trips and Short Journeys

Jadrolinija has announced ticket prices aimed at encouraging day trips and shorter excursions throughout the Kvarner region. A one-way ticket from Kraljevica to Baška, Lopar, or Rab will cost 25 euros, while shorter routes such as Senj to Rab or Baška to Rab will be priced at 15 euros.

For the shortest sections of the route, including Kraljevica to Crikvenica or Baška to Lopar, tickets will cost 10 euros. Travelers purchasing return tickets for same-day excursions will also receive a 10 percent discount, making island-hopping and coastal exploration even more affordable.

Tickets will be available directly onboard the catamaran Silba, as well as online through Jadrolinija’s official website and mobile application, making trip planning easier and more accessible for passengers.

Catamaran Silba to Operate the New Route

The new fast ferry service will be operated by the catamaran Silba, a well-known vessel in Jadrolinija’s fleet that has been in service since 1998. The vessel is designed for comfortable and efficient coastal travel and can accommodate up to 310 passengers.

According to technical specifications, Silba is capable of reaching speeds of up to 36 knots, allowing passengers to travel quickly between destinations and make the most of their time exploring beaches, historic towns, and local attractions.

The comfort and speed of the catamaran are expected to become especially valuable during the peak summer season when road traffic and ferry queues along the Adriatic coast are often at their busiest.

Boost for Tourism in the Northern Adriatic

With the launch of this new fast ferry line, Jadrolinija is further enriching the tourism offer of the Kvarner region. The route will improve access to a wide range of attractions, from famous sandy and pebble beaches to historic towns, local gastronomy, and natural landmarks.

The new connection is also expected to benefit smaller coastal and island communities by making them more accessible to visitors and encouraging greater tourist movement throughout the region.

Ultimately, the “Kvarner Bridge” is more than just a new transport route. It is a new tourism experience that allows travelers to discover the very best of Kvarner in a simple, scenic, and enjoyable way. Combining the beauty of the sea, islands, historic towns, and spectacular coastal landscapes, the new fast ferry line could hopefully become a popular summer excursion on Croatia’s Adriatic coast.
